Kettering Alter vs. Kettering Fairmont
Game One
The Backyard Brawl
August 22, 2008

The Mighty Alter Knights opened the season once again with their cross-town rivals, the Firebirds of Kettering Fairmont. It has become a traditional community event with literally 10,000 people attending the game. Earlier in the week, the second annual Alter/Fairmont pep rally was held at the Fraze Pavillion.
Here is a video from jjhuddle.com of the festivities:

The Fairmont game is always filled with much anticipation and excitement...
and the 2008 game lived up to all the expectations...
that is, if you are a Knight fan.

Though not showing perfection, the Knights were prepared for the game.
Fairmont was it's own worst enemy (again!), turning the ball over at crucial times.
On two occasions Fairmont fumbled the ball and Alter capitalized with TDs.

One of the fumble recoveries was by Matt Enouen which is this week's

This 2008 defense may bend, but if D-1 Fairmont is any test,
IT WILL NOT BREAK!
With 3 fumble recoveries and 2 INTs, Tommy's Guns showed that the
Alter D is for real. Fairmont did not score until the reserve Knights were in.

Watch linebacker Chris Borland show why The University of Wisconsin
wants him for the next 4 years:

The Alter offense was well prepared. Cody Taulbee had a couple big gains and
a TD. Justin Hall... coming back from his injury last year, looked to be in typical
smash-mouth form again. Chris Borland was outstanding in scoring 3 TDs and netting over 100 yards. QB Austin Boucher ran the offense with precision and called himself to carry the ball at the right times. He had a gutsy (somewhat sloppy) pitch to Borland down field that netted additional yards, a bold blast up the middle that got the Knights out of deep in their territory, and had a HUGE run down to the Fairmont 1-yard line that the film shows he indeed stretched the ball over the goal line, though the zebra said he stepped out of bounds.

The Alter Knights Crush Fairmont
Final Score
Alter 39
Fairmont 7

Captain Linebacker #9 Collin Boucher suffered an injury during the game.
Please join me in offering our our support and prayers to Collin.
